Meet Little Ms. M. She’s 2 years old. Spring location Two Year old girl Apple Blossoms

I was looking so forward to working with little Ms. M.  We planned to do her shoot in a blooming apple orchard! I know, so perfect!!! On my drive up the mountain the skies started to get dark. Then it started looking pretty ominous. I arrived early and scouted the best spot for the pictures and prayed everyone would be on time, and the storm would hold off for at least a few shots. Knowing full well a two year old would not respond well to pressure, I kept my voice light and my instructions clear. I did not try to engage with Ms. M, there would be no time to gain her trust today. I relied on Mom, and Dad who she already trusted, told them what to do and where to stand so she would appear to be engaging with the camera. They were awesome. We took a few shots in one dress and quickly (seriously the fastest wardrobe change I have seen in my 20 years as a children’s photographer)  put her in another and kept going. We probably got about 10-12 minutes in, all together. Only 7 or 8 before it started getting dark, and I had to push my camera’s settings to her limits. Mom and I sat in my car in the storm afterwards and I showed her what I captured. I was willing to reschedule the session and try again, but it wasn’t necessary. Ms. M is so beautiful and so happy, we got more than enough shots. Here are a few of my favorites:

At first the wind blowing the blossoms off the tree was pretty. That lasted about as long as it took to take this shot. Then it got crazy. I just love her little face in the last shot.

    Meet the S Family:

Outdoor Family Photography Frederick MD family hug

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy working with this family. These kiddos are so full of personality. Little brother is perfectly mischievous, and you can see it in his eyes. I did this family shoot last summer and the photos still make me laugh.  I believe the girls were 4 and little brother was 3.  It’s not always the easiest to get the kids to cooperate, but it’s a challenge I thoroughly enjoy. Mom and dad are so easy going.  They really just want photos of the family how they are, and this is exactly how they are, beautiful, fun and full of energy. I typically end up liking the family out takes the best, as do mom and dad. I have included some of my favorites in the post:

We decided to go ahead and leave the kids out of the last shot.

We did this shoot at my friend’s  private farm in Mt Airy, MD. He allows me to use it whenever I like. Contact me if you are interested in scheduling a shoot here. See more of my work on location on my Pinterest Location Board.  See more of my work with families on my Pinterest Family Board.
