As the sole provider for my family, I take my business very seriously. I’m always reading about how to improve, and I implement as much as I can. Recently I have been reading that clients feel more comfortable hiring someone they feel like they know and that I should slip in a few personal blog posts now and then. So here is a great peek into my life, when I’m not hanging out with customers, taking pictures. It’s not really that different.
My daughter Katie graduated from Linganore High School and asked me to throw her a party with “Mommy’s fun friends”. She wanted the band set up in the family room, she also wanted a Karaoke option. Fortunately she has my boyfriend Tim, who is also a pretty great musician, wrapped around her little finger. He brought over as much band equipment as he would haul to a gig. (A few weeks before this, Tim donned a Prince Charming costume and escorted her to Prom. He’s a pretty great guy.)
I usually take Katie out with me, where ever kids are welcome. She knows everyone and everyone she meets falls completely in love with her free spirit. We have a lot of talented musician friends who often allow her to sit in with them and play her Bongos with their band. More often than not she is wearing a princess dress. It amazes me how they are not phased at all by her playing completely off beat. One of our friends actually has a couple of Frozen songs in his set list that he pulls out when she shows up. We invited all of mommy’s fun friends and family to her party. I was amazed at everyone’s willingness to spend their Saturday night celebrating with Katie. She enjoyed every second of it.
If I have photographed you or your family you have probably heard me sing, and are aware that I have no talent in that area what so ever, but don’t seem to care and do it anyway. Whatever works. Little ones love it, and if it helps to get a great picture of their child, parents will tolerate anything. I’m not sure how my friends tolerate it. I suspect that there is a lot of truth in “if you’re having fun, you’re fun to watch”. If I’m not editing or blogging then I am singing or taking pictures or both. My son actually is a pretty good singer, he does it all the time. Stop by while he’s cutting the grass and you’ll get quite a show. The neighbors love it. Katie, poor thing, get’s her voice from her mom. Fortunately she get’s her confidence from me too, so if she was here while you were, you have probably heard her singing as well. All three of us are wanna be rock stars.
