I started my photography business 18 years ago when my kids were 1 and 3. I have been providing beautiful newborn images to my customers for years, but have none of my own children. In recent years the Cake Smash shoot has become a trend among hip one year olds. I’ll never have those shots for my own children either. My son turns 21 tomorrow. I asked him if he would do a 21st birthday cake smash session for me. Without hesitation he said yes!
I can’t tell you what a complete joy it has been to raise this boy. You can tell from his photos that he is good natured, fun loving, confidant and gorgeous (check out that hair, he rolled out of bed looking like that). What you can’t see is that he is every kind of smart (college level calculus in 11th grade smart, smart mouthed, and gets out of trouble by making you laugh smart). He’s kind, compassionate, and very funny. Although he has my sense of humor, which sometimes comes with a little innocent trouble. He has his dads eidetic memory, and great nose. He is the absolute best big brother to his sister Katie who has Down Syndrome. He protects her and encourages her to be strong and self sufficient. He’s a talented performer, and completely uninhibited. He reads people well and makes sure everyone around him is included and having fun. He is possibly be the best person I know… I could be a little biased. I love him so much and I’m so grateful to finally have cake smash pictures of my baby.
